Let’s go to Liverpool!

Since I had some courses about the Beatles in Uni, I was absolutely impressed by the „Fab Four“. I must say that at first, I did not really know much about them and I did’nt even really like them at all. But the more I heard about the band, the more the boys began to fascinate me. (Paul is my favourite by the way)

Then, in July of last summer (2018), I discovered that James Corden, a british actor and presenter who also does YouTube videos on a regular basis, has uploaded one of his famous and well-known „Carpool Karaoke“ videos. And this time it was with Sir Paul McCartney!

After watching this video for about 20 times, the decision was made: I had to go to Liverpool as soon as possible! And so I did. A few weeks later, I grabbed a friend and we were on our way. We visited the museum „The Beatles Story“, went on a tour to Paul’s and John Lennon’s childhood homes and we even went to the Cavern Club one night where the boys had their first shows.

George Ezra in Hannover

So far I have only known his music from all the CD’s I had bought. Not only me but also my whole family loves listening to the soulful sound of his deep voice. After a long wait, George Ezra finally came back to Germany to have a few shows here and me and my parents definitely wanted to take the opportunity to see him playing his Songs live!

Arriving at the Tui Arena it took a while until the supporting band had finished their part. They were playing some kind of Hip-Hop or something, and that sadly wasn’t my taste at all. But the joy was all the greater when George finally came on stage to perform his show!

He wore his black pleated trousers and a black shirt which is really typical for him – classic and elegant as always. I think it’s great how authentic he is. He really seems to stay on the ground and to not sell imself and his looks to his fans, but concentrates much more on just sharing his music with people. By the way, he sounds live just as good as on the CD, if not even better! And the atmosphere in the hall was fantastic. 🙂

Trench – talking about fear and hope

Have you heard of Twenty One Pilots new album „Trench“ yet? No? Then you definitely should! Since the beginning, Tyler and Josh, the two members of the band, have helped so many young people go through the dark phases of their lifes or even through depression. With their deep and moving lyrics, which also deal with their own fears and problems, they create an emotional bond between them and their fans, who call themselves the „Skeleton Clique“.

A new era begins in the end of 2018 – the band’s last album was mainly about Tyler’s demon „Blurryface“, who is standing for all the negativity and anxiousness in his mind, always tryig to effect the singer in negative ways. Since than, nobody has heard of them both until the new album release. They did’nt post anything for about two years in total while the Clique was nervously waiting for a sign.

But then they finally came back with the new album which now deals with a different kind of story line. This time, the lyrics tells a story about a place called Dema (like Demon) which is ruled by nine Bishops. The names of these bishops can be found in previous songs of the album „Blurryface“, so the story kind of builds up on the music they did before. They only name that can’t be found in these songs is Nico, the name of the bishop who seems to be Blurryface. Dema stands for an opressive society from which people try to escape, such as Clancy, a fictive character. While the nine bishops constantly retrieve and try to controll the people in the village, there are also the banditos, the ones who are closest to them, trying to help fleeing.

It’s all a little bit confusing and hard to understand in the beginning, but I promise you that it all makes sense if you listen to Twenty One Pilot’s music closely. And then you will understand that all these places and people symbolize hurdles in our lifes but also showing us that there are our friends and family who love us and who are there for us. And most importantly, that the Clique will make it through all the dark times, together.
